Japanese natural-dye folding technique
Shibori is a Japanese folding technique on fabric to create geometric or irregular patterns when dyeing fabric. Similar to origami on paper, the fabric is folded, partly knotted or otherwise attached and then dyed. It is often compared with Tie and Dye, Shibori is much subtler and more artful. In the workshop, each participant is not only initiated into the art of fabric folding with vegetable dyes, but can also put hands on to create his/her own piece that can be used as a scarf, table runner or other decoration.
About the animator: Johanna Riplinger is the designer of the eponymous line Johanna Riplinger and ShineConcept and was inspired by nature with its beautiful colors and facets from an early age. It's not surprising that she uses pure plant colors for her collections, which are extracted without harmful chemical conversion. Flowers, roots, stems and seeds, which grow naturally and are often unused, serve us again as an ecological colorant for this workshop. Johanna Riplinger translated the Japanese folding technique Shibori into her collections and it into contemporary experimental motives.
